Sarah Speyer is a documentary photographer whose work centres on people, everyday life, and the shared experiences that connect cultures. Born in Yorkshire and now based between the UK and Southeast Asia, her practice is shaped by a lifelong engagement with language, travel, and cross cultural exchange.
Before turning to photography, Sarah spent over a decade working in international relations and public service, developing a deep interest in human behaviour, relationships, and the ways individuals shape and are shaped by the societies around them. Her photographic work developed alongside her career, beginning during extended time in South America in 2012 and continuing through years of independent travel and long-term personal projects.
Her work focuses on intimate human stories, often exploring how identity, community, and environment intersect. Rather than presenting difference as spectacle, she is drawn to moments of familiarity and quiet connection that reveal common ground across cultures. Working in an observational and collaborative way, she aims to create images that give space to individual voices while reflecting broader social narratives.
